Lagging while playing online games?

Hello, As you can infer from the title I'm wondering why my comp. is lagging so badly. Lately i have been experiencing some pretty bad lagg when playing games. When i'm playing single player games such as Starcraft 2 I'm not experiencing very bad lagg.

I usually experience this lagg when im playing online games such as Transformice, Maplestory, WoW(private server), Crossfire etc

I run Defraggler about once or twice a month to see if i have a fragmented hard-drive. I notice some improvement in speed however nothing too impressive. I also downloaded game booster and while it did slightly improve my lagg at first, its becoming useless as well.

My Computuer is not particularly bad. Running Windows 7 OS with 6GB Ram, AMD Athlon Quad core proccesor, ATI Radeon graphics card and 500GB of Ram(About 300GB free),

Any suggestions on how to fix this? (Preferably without a third party program)

my computer runs pc games slower than ever before?

I have a toshiba qosmio g50, I have an intel core 2 due t9550 2,66ghz processor, 4gb DDR3 RAM, windows vista 32bit, NVIDIA gefore 9600 GT graphic card, 512mb graphiccard. it has 800gb hardisk. i have had this computer for a year now, when i got it it run all games perfectly with 1920x1080* resolution and 60FPS, lately, while playing wow, i have experienced going as low as 25fps and generally only having 30fps while playing, for many years ago it ran on 60fps in the most crowded areas, and i cant figure it out. i have tried downloading game booster, disk fragmenting, closing other programs while playing and i have also updated my graphic card. what should i do?

A few things to check for when your PC runs games slow (aside from the ones you already did), I'll assume you have Windows Vista or 7, though most all options work below for XP.

-Empty out your temp folders, such as Cwindowstemp. If it's too full, it'll slow down your system a bit while Windows searches for something, even though it's not in the temp folder.

-Check the temperature your system is running. Several system utilities have them (like PC wizard) Find one that checks your system as well as your GPU. I have provided a link to "speed fan 4.40" below, as it's free and easy to use. What temp should your system be running? It depends, but usually, I like my system to run at 55-65C, and the GPU at 70-80C. Most GPU's run cooler, about 50-60C, but my Nvidia likes to run hot. If your temps are higher than this, your system may suffer greatly. Get a fan, or water cooler.

- You may have a hidden background program that is taxing your system. Run an anti-spyware and anti-malware program, like Super Anti-Spyware. Also try a progam like "What's Running"

- Your registry may need cleaning. Run a reg cleaner.

- Your virtual memory isn't set correctly. Depending on your version of Windows, go to your Advanced System Settings and select Advanced tab. Under Performance, select Settings button. Under the Advanced Tab in the Performance Options, select the button called "Change" for Virtual memory. Test initial size and Maximum size that is best for your system. If max is too high, say, over 4000 (the amount of your Ram), decrease it by half. Restart after saving that and test. Another trick is to set your minimum and maximum to the same number, say, 2048. This is something that is different per machine and specs, however, and how you use it. You have to play with it.

- Did you mess with your Bios settings lately? How about overclocking? Codecs?

-Finally, you may have a conflicting Windows device driver. A newly installed program, and updated driver that didn't complete, or the like can hose your system.
