is the economy in diablo 2 similar to wow? such as loot, in-game auction house, and common, uncommon, rare, and elite items?

There are different quality items but they are nothing like they are in WoW. The best items in D2 are usually bought directly or created using runes. The economy is also completely different. Farming money in wow means you get actual money while in D2 money is almost worthless besides repairs. The currency in D2 is unique items and charms that are rare and valuable. There are no in game auction houses

another WoW question, dealing with inflation?

ok, im a druid on the Scilla server by the name of (ironically) Monawkaran, i havent played in a while, the server WAS new, and yet, people are over charging things. ive seen a rare (blue) class dagger in the AH for nearly 80g, it doesnt have a high DPS, not any real good effects and it doesnt seem to help any specific classes. Why is my brand new server going through inflation already? Is it just that people think that everything above green deserves to be above 50g? And its not a WSG grade item either, its for a level 24. This is a problem that has been bothering me for the longest time, its happening all the time and its one of the reasons i switched from Final Fantasy 11. Im posting this just to get answers.

WoW actually works in reverse for economic issues because there is a constant stream of new loot and gold. The most likely cause of higher than normal prices is probably just because your server is new. I've played on Muradin, Thrall, and Aerie Peak, and the newer the realm is, the higher prices are.

Aerie Peak has been around long enough that there are so many more people farming everything than there is demand for the stuff they're harvesting. This has caused me to vendor-dump a lot of green items as they are not even worth trying to sell at the Auction House.

If everything on there seems unusually expensive, then you could try starting a character on an older realm where market forces have brought down prices, or just wait for prices to come down on Scilla. WoW is fundamentally capitolist with almost completely free-market economics. The only safeguard to buoy prices are the vendors, so prices should never drop below Blizzard's vendor-controlled prices. As the volume of materials and loots increases, the prices will eventually drop closer and closer to vendor prices...
