What's a better DPS between a Rogue and a Mage? And other stuff about WoW.?

I'm debating on whether or not to create a Rogue or a Mage first. I want the number one dps in the game. Also if you could give a guide.

Please do not listen to the other answerers. Mages are not the best DPS class, rogues are. I play a level 80 rogue and I have a level 80 mage. They are both in the best gear in the game from Ulduar 25 man raid, only a few guilds in the world have beat it. I have played as both characters and I can honestly say that rogues are the best single target DPS in the entire game. I pull over 6000 damage per second on a boss fight as combat spec. For a mage, I could barely top 5200 damage per second. This is not just for my rogue, but all the rogues in my guild, we all top the damage meters and mages will not come close.
