Why do people ask others for names?

To me it doesn't make sense, because it won't help a bit.
"What do you think about this and this name?" -There'll allways be people who say "wow" and other who think that name sucks. I mean, you and your partner have to like it. And I'm sure any parent to be considers possible nicknames and terrible short forms. (Unless you have any mean intentons
Even before I became pregnant I knew that nobody, expect my husband and me would know about the name chosen, because they/d just drive us crazy.
I just thought of that because -haha- when my sister became pregnant for the first time, she told me she likes ""Pia" a lot. And just by accident, some weeks before, I crowned "Pia" to the ugliest name I know. So she didn't do it...

P.S. I appologize to all the Pias who read that.

I don't get it either. I guess it is just a matter of opinion.

San Francisco Midgets --- This is sooo stupid. My Giants live up to their names. It's how they play.
Boston Red Sux --- Who ever came up with this, sux.
Chicago Chubs --- Can you think of anything better!?
New York Panties/Pankees --- Wow! It made me laugh at first, but I grew up.
San Diedo Madres --- Don't be talking about SD's mama!
Texas Power Rangers --- WTF? Not nice!
Cincinnati Blues --- I find this one the stupidest.
Los Angeles Dodgeritas ---- Has a ring to it. Lol, jk.
Milwaukee Blowers ---- Baseball should not relate to anything sexual.
